Created by beauty lover Mel Blue, Unicorn Cosmetics was founded in 2016, after Mel felt that the beauty industry was lacking in originality, stating “I wanted to reach into my makeup bag and pull out something that people just couldn’t help but stare at!”.
Initially, Unicorn Cosmetics (previously Unicorn Lashes) solely focussed on false lashes, which were enthusiastically endorsed by multiple beauty influencers on Youtube and Instagram. This ultimately led to significant growth for Unicorn’s social presence, and they then expanded the brand’s products to makeup, beauty tools and accessories.
RESULTS
With this dramatic growth in brand awareness and popularity, Mel knew that the potential Unicorn Cosmetics could reach would be ground-breaking. Therefore, she formed a partnership with Social Nucleus in 2020 to solidify Unicorn’s marketing presence and make their products a staple for makeup lovers nationwide.
Within the 2 years of onboarding with Social Nucleus, we were able to contribute to totalling overall sales up by 94%, total orders up by 123%, increase conversion rate by 66% and sessions by 30%.
Due to Unicorn already having significant organic growth on their social channels, we gained these results by optimising existing data shown via website traffic and previous advertisement results. We then replicated this across all channels.
Our Account Managers were able to analyse Unicorn’s core audience and went on to create a funnel-based strategy. No stone was left unturned in regard to reaching new audiences across Instagram and Facebook, and continually appealing to existing customers to keep a steady stream of repeat orders and customer loyalty.
With the nature of the brand appealing to predominantly female audiences ages 18-30, Unicorn went on to capitalise on platforms such as Snapchat and Tiktok. Using socially trending content produced by influencers and our in-house team of Digital Content Creators, accompanied by strong ad copy which reflected the brand’s image and tone of voice.
