Here’s what we achieved in our first 3 months of working with Silkwave

Kickstarting Silkwave

Silkwave debunks another misconception about Facebook advertising – that you need loads of products. The owners of new hair tool brand, Silkwave, came to use in July 2020. They had just one product they wanted to sell – a wireless hair curler.

The owners had experience of selling other products and had full faith in this new product, as did we. With Silkwave being a start-up brand, we knew our onboarding process was going to be more important than ever.

Max & Luna at Silkwave were appointed Anthony as their Account Manager and one of our Copywriters, Ellie, got to work on their onboarding journal. We looked at what competitors were doing and quickly established what we need before launch:

✔️ Realistic pricing strategy with room to discount

✔️ Strong incentive such as introductory discount and/or free shipping

✔️ User-generated content

✔️ Real reviews from people who had tried the product

We worked with the client on positioning the pricing for launch and started with an introductory offer and free shipping. They sent the product to our creative team who took it away, created user-generated content and wrote reviews based on their own experiences.

Have you heard about our creative team? Made up of Copywriters, Graphic Designers and Creative Strategists, our highly qualified and experienced team create continuous new copy and content for all of our clients to improve our tests and level up our ads.

The client used email marketing to encourage organic buyers to leave reviews on the website in order to build up a bank we could work with.


The website was ready. User-generated content edited. Launch copy written. Ads built in our custom funnel method. It was time to turn our campaigns on.

We explained to the client that we work on a 3-month testing phase, particularly with start-ups. The audiences we test and the decisions we make are all based on past experience but the proof is in the results.

Here’s how month one looked:

As predicted, we fell just under breaking even for month one. Completely normal and to be expected.

The good thing about this was that we were seeing sales. The ads were delivering, and a small percentage of those link clicks were converting. We had an insight into which audiences were performing and what types of creative were getting the best response.

Going into our second month, September, we widened our bank of content, implemented new copy angles and readjusted our budgets to focus on what we knew was working and other ad sets that we were confident would mirror this success.

Here’s what the results were looking like at the end of month two:

What a difference a month makes, hey? Yep, we scaled in month two. Our method of scaling is results-driven, so when we saw real success from some of our ad sets and creatives, we seized the moment and scaled. It paid off.

Continuing the success into month 3

After the success of September, we were excited to scale things even further in October. We knew what was working at this stage, so it was now a case of scaling everything.

For us, scaling takes a multi-team approach. Our technical team focus on the budgets and the ad sets, our creative team takes care of fresh copy and content and of course, the Account Manager works alongside the client to ensure their business is ready.

We don’t believe in unsustainable scaling. Anthony worked with Max and Luna to ensure they had access to stock, their profit margins were being met, their distribution process was handling the pressure and that their other marketing channels were doing their bit too.

After scaling in the best way we know how, here are the results we achieved in October:

October was another huge jump. We scaled spend by 267% compared to the month before and boosted conversion value by 377%.

In just 3 months, we’d taken Silkwave from start-up to success, all before Black Friday. We knew November was going to be massive for us, so we prepared as we always do.

We worked with the client to establish a sustainable sale plan for the event, put together the creatives, set up a custom campaign strategy and hit this retail event hard.

Want to know how November ended?

From start-up to turning over €300,000 worth of sales on paid ads alone in 4 months. We’d scaled spend by 288% in a month and increased conversion value by 188% too.

Going into December, our 5-month of running ads, we decided to scale back. We knew we saw a lot of the success in November due to Black Friday, so we watched results heading into December and made scale backs where required.

We still ended the year on a high with these results:

From September 2020 to January 2021, we helped Silkwave generate a MASSIVE £930,000 worth of sales across all channels. The result of a huge 22,000+ purchases from across Facebook, Instagram and Google.

As well as achieving huge success for Silkwave on Facebook, we’d also been running Google ads for the client throughout our time working together. Achieving £379,000+ worth of sales on Google from September – December.
